Centennial High School
Project Type/Date Complete:
Expansion and Renovation - 2021
Total Project Cost
$76,400,000.00
Unit 4 School District’s successful referendum funded a significant expansion and renovation of the 1960s-era Centennial High School in Champaign, Illinois. The expansion added approximately 114,000 square feet of new space, including science and general education classrooms, a new main entrance, administrative and student services offices, a second gymnasium, and CTE workshops. The infill of a breezeway between existing wings and a new elevator improved circulation and accessibility throughout the building. The 203,000 square feet of existing space was renovated including revised floor plans with new finishes, fixtures, furnishings, and systems. The bus and student drop-offs were also reorganized and parking was increased for visitors, faculty, and staff. The project was divided into phases to allow for uninterrupted occupancy over the course of two school years.
