Medical Office Building Feasibility Study
Project Type/Date Complete:
New Construction - 2004 (Unbuilt)
Total Project Cost:
$12,400,000.00 Estimated
The purpose of this study was to explore the possible co-location of the existing Champaign-Urbana Public Health District and Frances Nelson Health Center in a new building on an urban infill site north of downtown Champaign, Illinois. The preferred scheme strategically places the two-story, 50,000 square foot building within the available land area to maximize on-site parking for patient use, provide a vehicular drop-off at the public entry while still allowing for future building expansion. Although conceived as a shared facility to capitalize upon initial construction and operating costs, the site planning and building design take great care in developing two distinct identities for the agencies and appropriate way finding for arriving patients and employees. The building is organized to provide as much clinical space as possible on the first floor with mostly administrative space above.
