The existing Community Blood Services of Illinois facility in Urbana, Illinois, was expanded and renovated to address a lack of functional space, correct building system deficiencies, and comply with European Union regulations. So that operations could continue during construction, a 6,800-square-foot addition was first completed to relocate donor services and staff offices and followed by the phased renovation of the remaining 13,700 square feet of existing space for laboratory processing and shipping and receiving. Recently rebranded as ImpactLife, this project resulted in a safe and efficient workplace for staff and a more attractive and comfortable environment for donors.
