Cobb Memorial Auditorium
Project Type/Date Complete:
Renovation - 2013
Total Project Cost:
$5,500,000.00
Built in 1913 as part of the original Urbana High School building in Urbana, Illinois, Cobb Memorial Auditorium was renovated to meet the performance, presentation, and production needs of a modern high school performing arts program. The project included upgrades to the deteriorated auditorium and a multi-story addition within an adjacent open courtyard for storage and support space. The renovation not only improved the front of house and audience seating areas, but also restored balcony seating, expanded the stage and proscenium arch, added an orchestra pit, modified stage rigging, updated house and stage lighting, and upgraded A/V and sound systems. The state-of-the-art facility now supports a full range of theatrical and musical programming and provides a venue for lectures, presentations, and interactive distance learning.
