Lissa on Maxwell

Project Type/Date Complete

Interior Build Out - 2006

This 1,500-square-foot women’s clothing boutique was one of the first retail outlets in Chicago, Illinois's University Village Maxwell Street redevelopment project. The store featured higher-quality, limited-edition pieces from up-and-coming designers coupled with personalized service in a modern, minimalist setting. Maxwell Street, the site of the former open-air market, served as a gateway for immigrants dating back to the mid-nineteenth century and is widely considered the birthplace of Chicago blues. Many of the existing late 19th- and early 20th-century facades were preserved and incorporated into the new construction as a way to honor the historic marketplace.
