Eastern Illinois Foodbank Feasibility Study
Project Type/Date Complete:
Expansion and Renovation - 2018 (Unbuilt)
Total Project Cost:
$2,815,000.00
This study examined the possibility of expanding and renovating the existing Eastern Illinois Foodbank facility in Urbana, Illinois to better support the growing demand for services. During the programming phase, additional warehouse space was identified for food storage (dry, cool, and freezer), offices and work areas for staff and volunteers, a designated shopping area, and loading docks for bulk food shipping and receiving. The preferred design involved a 17,740 square foot addition along with selective remodeling of the 40,300 square foot existing building. With available land to the south, a separate, enlarged staff and visitor parking lot was proposed which helped to reduce pedestrian and truck traffic conflict on the site.
